From the very young age of 2 years old I have memories about “different” things relating to animals, people and my surroundings. At age 18, the 5th of 5 children to a single mother and growing up in an abusive home life, I left home and embarked on my life journey full force including the responsibility for my education, housing, financial, physical and emotional well-being. I did it all. I had no role model or what I did experience was not healthy. My life’s journey has taken many twists and turns including the completion of a B.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto which lead to my career in the corporate world banking sector.
After being downsized, I was able to unleash my inner entrepreneur resulting in the establishment and eventual sale of my 1st successful business, No Place Like Home Cat Sitting Inc. The business sale coincided with my foray into the uncharted world of motherhood. While caring for my identical twin sons (2 months premature with health issues and my pregnancy being the highest risk type for multiple pregnancies Mono/mono ~ just to make things even more interesting) plus full-time managing, operating an at home business with contractors working for me, I recognized a deep need within myself to be touched in a therapeutic and restorative manner in addition to finding balance in my life.
I was burning, if not pretty much burnt out! Parenting, particularly in the early years, is all about nurturing and giving, but that output needs to be balanced with a requisite input of healthful energy, relaxation and restoration. That realization propelled me onward to develop a new career focused on health and wellness for the Mind, Body and Soul. Having already experienced the taste of being an entrepreneur, I found myself back in the saddle of recreating my personal and professional life.
In 2004, I pursued studies as a Registered Massage Therapist at Kikkawa College in Toronto, Canada. In 2007, I graduated with my 2,200 hour pre-medical certification, wrote and performed my board exams and obtained my professional license as a Registered Massage Therapist. Little did I know that this was only the spark to fuel on my passions to where I am today!
Next on my list of connecting to my true inner self was yoga as it is something I have always done since I was a teen. In 2008 and 2009, I attended 2 consecutive annual yoga retreats in a village on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica and in 2010.
