Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning universal life force energy or god conscious energy. This highly revered eastern healing art was introduced to the world by Dr. Mikado Usui, a Japanese Buddhist in the early 20th century when he experienced the power of Reiki healing energy on Mt. Kurama. Since its discovery this gift of natural healing has grown and flourished into a worldwide community it embraces all traditions and is one of the easiest healing modalities to incorporate into one’s life. It promotes and accelerates healing on all levels and balances body, mind and spirit through the laying on of hands.
Reiki is the energy flowing from our creator and is not the Reiki practitioner’s energy doing the healing. The Reiki practitioner is merely the channel or conduit through which the divine healing power flows. Reiki is a natural and gentle method of spiritual healing and self-improvement. It always has a beneficial effect in treating various conditions and illnesses. It compliments both eastern and western medicine in assisting the body to find balance.
There is no end to experiencing Reiki in its ever changing journey into one’s self. It teaches us that our healing begins when we connect with our own empowerment.
A Reiki treatment is unique for each individual. As a heightened state of relaxation occurs, the more universal life force energy enters the body. As this energy moves through you, it transforms disturbances that may be holding you back or causing discomfort. Reiki releases these disturbances allowing you to move forward with your life and achieve inner freedom. A treatment feels like a wonderful radiance that flows through and around you. Many people feel a heat sensation, sleepiness or an internal calmness. Obtaining a treatment regularly will restore and assist the general condition of the body. It also will keep open the energy channels that allow the body to cope naturally with stress, pain and discomfort. Reiki energy is not limited by time or space. Distant Reiki treatments can also be given without the client being present.
